  1. Welcome.

You've made a common mistake. i7 does not mean LGA 1366. There are i7 processors for LGA 1156 (P55 boards) and there are i7s for X58 boards (LGA 1366).

    So, get a i7-950 instead.
  2. whoops, i posted the wrong 1.

    ASUS SABERTOOTH 55i

    There we go =]
  3. ^ RAM - Go with 2 sticks of RAM as the board is a Dual-Channel one...

    And checked for combos?

  4. i see,i thought it i saw it had tri channel some where but guess it was something else.

while looking at that combo i came across this.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.518975

looks alright so i may just go with that.

    any other suggestions and such?
  5. ^ The only weak link I see in that combo is the PSU - It is overrated, just 60A on the 12V rail for a 900W PSU? The Corsair 750W has 60A on its 12V rail...
  6. thanks for pointing that out, i don't know much about psu's and such.

so would it be safer to go with the corsair right?
  7. Yep.
Most of those ABS power supplies are made by ATNG. Some of them are adequate or even good, but I have no solid info on that one. The actual label on the unit says 66A, not 60A. It's low still for a PSU rated at 900W continuous, but not an indicator of quality on it's own... the very high quality Antec Signature 850W is only 65A.

Just look at the PSU guide linked in my sig if you'd like to learn about PSU selection.
  8. 80 bucks for a TP-750 is a good deal.
  9. yeah its saving me about $40+ buck going with this over the 900w. :D

Was planing on going with the black case at first but im gonna grab the white one.

Later down the line i may add single sleeved white cables to match the case.

  12. Nice case! I have a i7 build going this weekend also. I noticed you added a fan right away to your build. Is that something I should do?
  13. You need an optical drive also.
  14. ^hd is the biggest rip ever.
get the samsung spinpoint f3 1tb, or seagate barracuda 7200.12 1tb, whichever is cheaper at the time.

Did you buy the SSDs already?
I heard that you cant use TRIM with RAID arrays, mind testing that?
  25. I haven't. and I'm only getting 1 SSD.
i dont even know what trim is, I haven't read up on it yet.
short version, what is it? and is it worth using?

From what I know, TRIM is just a command that permanently wipes the data off the SSD when its deleted after a period of time, so when new data is written in its a quick write, not a slower re-writing over existing data.

without TRIM, you'll have to wipe the SSD every couple of months manually or the performance will start deteriorating.
  27. Build complete changed a few things got an Xigmatek case and left out the ssd's for another time ill be posting picks later!
