BG1: Cant get into Baldur's Gate city.

A friend of mine is having problems trying to get into BG city. They talked
to the guy in the mines (after killing his minnions) & when he begged for
his life she let him live & then flooded the mines. There is still the guy
at the BG city gates saying she's not able to enter (sorry dont know for
sure what he's saying).
Any reason you cant get into the city? Any way to permanently screw
this up where if you don't have an older save you're screwed completely?
Wasn't there a cheat code that resets all game criticle quests so you can do
anything you may have messed up on? What is likely needed to have been
already done to get in? Its been a while since I've played that part & am
on my way back there right now (but I'm still on CH3) but would rather not
wait that long.

BG City opens when Davaeorn dies (flodding the mines is
optinoal). That is when Chapter 5 begins. There were some
reports of problems in unpatched game. There is a cheat
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("Chapter","GLOBAL",x)
where x = chapter number. I have how idea if / how the cheat
works.

BTW, the "not able to enter" isn't clear. Can you cross the
bridge all the way to the other side?

Is Davaeorn the guy you kill in order to flood the mines?

Thanks for the cheat, I'll have her try that if all else fails.

I discovered that chapter 5 doesnt begin directly after Daevoerns death in
the unpatched game. (havent played any other versions yet).

Make sure your bg mate reads all three letters daevoern dropped, that she
interrogated Daevoerns apprentice AND that you use the elevator to level 1
positioned in the SW corner of the Daevoern level. Chapter 5 starts right
before enterin that elevator.

Whereas if you've patched it, or installed Tales Of The Sword Coast,
Chapter 5 begins when Davaeorn dies, which solves *that* whole
problem.

Which could mess things up royally if you went back up the *stairs* to
the place where you flood the mines, pre-patch...
