I'm buying a new laptop this afternoon and i need some quick advice im planning on buying a ~$400 laptop. I will only be using this computer for online classes and basic usage. I want to get my best bang for my buck. This will be my only computer so i want the technology in it to last as long as possible before i need to replace it.

My main concern is that I cant decide if i should buy a Intel Core i3 processor or an AMD E-series they are about the same price. I know the e-series is the better AMD processor, and the I3 is the worst of the new core processors but that's about the extent of my knowledge. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

i3s are more advanced than AMD's entire lineup. Intel makes better mobile processors and processors in general; that AMD chip is 1-2 generations behind. The Intel will probably have the better battery life too.

Just don't buy an HP laptop and you'll be fine.

radio shack had a nice i5 rig for 429 last week (around here)... too bad you missed it. I almost jumped on it myself.

Check your temps with HWMonitor, Core Temp or RealTemp. SpeedFan seems to be wrong more...
