Need Help With GPU Options

Hi All.

I have a simple (or so I thought) question;

I already have a Sapphire Radeon HD-5770 graphics card. It's OK but I'd like better performance. My question is would I be better off buying another 5770 and running them in crossfire or would a single 5870 give me the same result?

My Home Built System:

Corsair 800D Case
Asus P6X58D Premium MOBO
i7 980X
6 Gig Corsair Dominator 1866 RAM
Silverstone Strider 1000w PSU

Everything is under water except the GPU, since heat may become an issue I plan to add a second system for the gpu (gpu's) after I figure out what to do.

Thanks in advance for any and all help :wahoo:

they are pretty close in performance. the crossfire option would obviously be the cheapest solution. if purchasing a new 5870 is not an issue then you would get better performance in games that don't yet support crossfire.

WOW! Exactly the info I needed! Thanks ct615 for the quick reply and the excelent information.

So I don't leave you hanging, with the info from your reply I've decided to go ahead and pick up 2 5870's, link them under water and not look back.

Thanks again!
