First, thank you for the endless patience you show in answering all the 'build me a pc for $XXX' threads. It has helped me a great deal in trying to put together my own and I've come up with something that seems, to me at least, a half-decent rig. Trouble is I'm about $150 over budget and my brain's kind of fried from info overload. I should mention I'm in Australia and so would prefer to deal with someone I can go and see if anything I buy doesn't work properly. To that end, I'm mostly picking from this list...
The CPU I've sourced elsewhere for $155 (for the sake of brevity I'm happy to count USD and AUD as 1 to 1) but everything else is on that list.
The build I have is...
CPU AMD X4 955 BE $150.00
GPU ATI 5770 $140.00
MOBO AsRock 890GM-PRO $122.00
HDD Seagate 1TB $70.00
ODD Pioneer BR Writer $129.00
RAM 4G 1600 G.Skill-Ripjaws $78.00
CASE Thermaltake Dokker $74.00
PSU Corsair TX650 $115.00
OS Windows 7 $100.00
All in all that's close to a grand and I really need to shave it down to about 850. And I'm out of ideas - a bit frazzled by it all, you know? Is it even a workable build? Will the bits work together, for instance. I'm fully aware I may look like a complete spanner by the end of this...
So any help or advice or cyber-smacks round the back of the head and a 'what were you think, idiot?' would be much appreciated.
ok First Y\you could get the Asrock 870 extreme3 mobo for about 80 dollars now. This is a great mobo for am3. Get the cheaper Ripjaws for 50 dollars. Get a samsung spinpoint F3 for the same price, but its faster. Get the Corsair 750tx on sale now for 89 with rebate. and get an oem version of windows 7 for 80 dollars.
