Hi

I'm planning to put an XFX Zalman edition GTS 250 512mb video card on my system. it currently has a 650w psu with 15 amps on the 12v rails, do you guys think it'll handle it well?

  1. I doubt it.The GTS 250 has a TDP of 250 watts. Thus it will need 150/12= 12.5 amps at max. load. So, it won't run on your current PSU.
  2. Thanks for the reply!

I'm new here and i'm not quite sure which amp should be referred to, the one in individual rails or the total. my psu box said 15,13,13,13 amps for each of the rails, and a total of 504W (40 amps).

here's a spec from the manufacturer

  3. It should be fine mate, the only thing is to try it, if not, upgrade your PSU - but i cant see a problem with that PSU running a GTS250.
  4. it'll work with that psu. you should've mentioned that it has multiple +12v rails on your first post.

Oh couldn't you mention that it has multiple +12 V rails?Of course it'll work fine.
  6. 504W : 12V = 42 A on 12V rail(s), that's plenty, you will be fine with that PSu. :)
  7. Thanks guys! appreciate your help!
