Quick decision i have to make ASAP!

Do you think its a wise decision to spend $850 on the Dell xps 15 or go with the TOSHIBA Satellite L655-S5111 for $700? Which would be better in the long run?

  1. Some specs and your intended use would be helpful.
  2. TOSHIBA Satellite L655-S5111 $700

    Video Card: ATI 5650M
    RAM: 4 GB DDR3 1066
    HDD: 500 5400 rpm
    Screen: 15.6" 1366 x 768

    Dell XPS 15 $850
    CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-460M (2.53GHz)
Video Card: Geforce GT 420M with optimum technology
    RAM: 6 GIGS DDR3
    HDD: 500 GIG 7200 rpm
    Screen: 15.6" (720)
  3. Toshiba.
  4. may i ask what made you pick the toshiba?
  5. personally, I'd pick the Dell. Its got much more up to date parts, meaning it will last longer in terms of usefulness (2-3 years) - more powerful processor, more powerful GPU, more RAM, faster hard drive.

Also toshiba has a bad rep among laptop repair guys.
  6. Price, the CPU on the Dell is slightly faster but the Toshiba has a sensibly better video card (the nvidia geforce on the other one is already obsolete).

You don't need or get to use 6GB of RAM.

Toshiba component quality (Japanese parts). Best warranty and service (at least in Europe - far above Dell), long battery life, LED backlight.
