Connect windows 7 to wireless router

i have just set up virgin media and i am having problems connecting to windows 7 on my note book, i have a virgin media hub modelNETGEAR if that is any help, all i want is toset up a wirelesss connection

First connect the computer to the VM box with a network cable.
Does Internet work?
What is the router model number? (connects to VM with cable)
What adapter are you using? (in computer)
