Looking for advice on my system for possible upgrades.

Current System:

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955
Mother Board: ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 AMD 790GX
Video Card: SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 4870 1GB
Memory: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 922

I plan on reusing the Hard drive, PSU and case for sure. Everything else I am looking at for possible upgrades to keep system up to date. I have enjoyed my Radeon card and I am looking to stay with them unless Nvidia has something amazing on the market. My budget is between $500-600.

Thanks ahead of time for the help it's greatly appreciated.

I'll be honest, what you have right now is pretty solid as it is.

get an updated heat sink and try overclocking that 955

get an updated GPU (a 6850 or 6870) and you're good for another 18 months to 2 years

Agree with Sqrl, that's a very solid machine. Unless you're using certain apps that actually take full advantage of another CPU's strengths, it's a pointlessly big $$$ jump to the next tier.

I've built 6 machines around the 955 BE & M4A78T. They're used in a gaming/design studio. Not your standard office paper-pushing workplace.

That board + CPU combo is easy and fun to OC. Try that instead.
