I have a 3 year old gaming pc thats on the way out and I think I fried the HD today
It was
Vista 64..
Core 2 E6850
Gigabyte N650 SLI
8800 GTS
OCZ 700w Power
OCZ 6 MB Reaper Mem.......U have served me well but its time to upgrade

So I will reuse my Antek case and 700w powersupply
I picked most items off of TOMS here in the forums from you guys
as I am out of the loop 3 years and its all greek to me now but before I pull the trigger...

Windows 7 I have on hand

The combination if parts Id like to make sure will work together
and the GPU.....IS that considered a good card? I had an 8800GTS before...It should be WAY better Id think ??? I do not understand if I want 768Mb,1Mb or 1280Mb...What determines that?
Is 4 GB of ram enough,do I want 6 or more? ? I have 6gb now (older DDR2 OCZ stuff id rather not reuse)

I play games and day to day computing (COD,BF2)

the GTX 470 is a good card. very fast, very powerful. But also very hot and uses a lot of power.

In the same pricerange and capability is the newer AMD HD6870. It however consumes a lot less power and isn't as hot. I'd consider that just for the electric bill savings.

Id like something I can add another vid card too later down the road when
prices drop

I would go with sapphire for the 6870 and the ASUS P7P55D-E LX which is reasonably priced and has USB3.

It seems AMD has issues to meet the demand, lots of cards are not in stock but you must wait anyway since the CPU is sold out. Here's one (factory OC) with custom cooling:

No Microcenters near me thats a sweet deal though,if they are on sale at that price
that means SOON they will all be that price,Newegg had em for 179 but sold out

I revised ,MOBO,MEM and HD......Im stickin with EVGA thou,they were great for me when I busted my old GPU and took care of it

How we lookin now.......is my current OCZ 700 GXSSLI psu ok with these new systems ? I mean are the plugs all the same from a few years ago
