overclocking your cpu @ 3.0ghz with good cooling and you're good for now (until new build).
a new mobo with ddr3 then you might as well get new cpu.!
ddr2 800 4GB(2x2GB) in dual until new mobo.
I dont know how to overclock a cpu, have done a gpu though.

I pretty sure ddr2 will slow down the card, and less performance.

I will get a new mobo ddr3. theres a big dff from ddr2 to ddr3

yes there is a big difference but I was talking about right now...
right now with the mobo you have instead of the 3GB, try the dual channel 2x2GB 4GB set.

and don't say it will slow down card if it's better than what you have now...
and have you tried 4GB(2x2GB) in dual channel mode.? ddr2 800.

not trying to b rude. but i said i was getting new mobo and ddr3 ram. so all i want to know will a need a new cpu or is mine fine ?

if you would have ask it like that then i would have told you...
this is the first mention of dd3 1333 specifically.
So your saying i wont need to upgrade my cpu then? if i get ddr3 1333 and 5770.
what do u think about the psu 450watts is that enough??

im talking in rands(south african currency)
900 for i5 mobo
800 for ram
1600-2000 for 5770 or gtx 460
1400-1700 for new cpu(quad core or i5 760)

Total is 4700(low end cpu)
or 5000 (5770 i5 760)
or 5100(low end cpu)
or 5400 (gtx460 i5 760)

The price difference is minimal. Which should i go for???
