Hey

I want to know that which one is the best processor from Intel i3 , Intel e7200 and Intel q8400....

If anyone knows the specifications of these processors , tell me....

Hi rahulriskyjaat :hello:  ...First off,for which of the socket processor numbers is it for :pt1cable:  ...You have LGA 1156 or LGA 1155 for which both have core i3 processors available to choose from ;)  ...

Hi rahulriskyjaat :hello:  ...Once again I am back to help you out a little :)  ...For the LGA 1156 core i3,I will mention the highest in GHz first and that is the core i3 560 at 3.33 GHz with no turbo boost & has 2 cores with an extra 2 hyperthreading cores to make 4 threads all together & is rated at 73 watts & 4 mb of cache :)  ...For the LGA 1155 core i3,I will also mention it's hightest in GHz first & that is the core i3 2120 at 3.3 GHz & has no turbo boost either, but has hyperthreading to make 4 threads, but has only 2 actual cores & is rated at 65 watts & 3 mb of cache :)  ...

Hi once again rahulriskyjaat :hello:  ...I have some more information about the newer core i3 range with the LGA 1155 socket pinset number ;)  ...Core i3 2100 @ 3.1 GHz has 2C/4T & is 65 watts...Also the last to mention is the core i3 2100T @ 2.5 GHz has 2C/4T & is 35 watts...There is no turbo boost on any of them that I have mentioned & both have 3 mb's of cache each :)  ...

i also want to know that can i use DDR2 RAM or i'll have to buy a DDR3??

Hi once again :hello:  ...Can you read the motherboard manual or if you can not find it then post up the make & model of your board that you do not know if it has ddr2 or ddr3 :pt1cable:  ...

ok thanks for this

and i saw my mainboard specs and found out i have Socket 775 LGA Package...

Hi once again :hello:  ...Both cpu's will be good for your LGA775 mainboard depending if they are supported by your motherboards manufacturer :pt1cable:  ...The E7200 has LGA775 socket & the Q8400 also has LGA775 socket ;)  ...

man
do you know that any of the i3 could be run on G31
cause it also has LGA 775...

Hey man :pt1cable:  ...If you would of given the correct specifications at first, then you would not have had to go through all this trouble ;)  ...No one else will come up,because they are waiting for the motherboard manufacturer & model number also that I had asked from you :pt1cable:  ...Please either learn to read english or give your specifications :fou:  ...

No, i3 CPUs ARE NOT compatible with a G31 based LGA775 motherboard.
Depending on the specific i3 CPU you will need either a LGA1156 or LGA1155 motherboard with DDR3 RAM.

Of those two CPUs, the Q8400 is defiantly the best.
It has twice the cores as the E7200 and runs faster.

Now, please stick to this thread and do not spam the forms with any further threads on this matter.

From cpubenchmark.net / pricewatch.com:

E7400 @ 1918 / $102.99
Q8400 @ 3682 / $144.90
Q8300 @ 3558 / $129.00
Q9400 @ 3811 /$169.00

Obviously by these numbers it's clear quad cores are the way to go for any 775 board. Per dollar, the Q8300 seems to be the best buy.

Memory requirement (DDR2 vs DDR3) is given by the board and not the processor. It sounds like you already have the board and the memory. I'm guessing they worked together before. It's also highly unlikely a G31 (cheap) board that was bought some time ago (obviously) will take DDR3 (rare for 775's - only performance boards. not cheap.) You can give us the motherboard model and get a more definite answer. This is advisable.

Hi JonBeam :hello:  ...If he has not come back yet with his specs,I think it will be a longer time we'll have to wait ;)  ...So i'll be off & away for some sleep :wahoo:  ...

Pardon my math, but what I showed up there concludes that the Q8300 benches at nearly two times what the E7400 does for only 27 dollars more.

You really should go with a quad.

E7400 @ 1918 / $102.99 = 18.62 per dollar
Q8300 @ 3558 / $129.00 = 27.58 per dollar

Even if you're thinking about things economically it's still the better option.

if he has a g31 motherboard he will need a 1066 fsb processor. i believe the q8400 is 1333, so it will run slower. just get an e7600 or something, they run 1066fsb and are good enough to run any game to date, comparable to lower end i3's and can be overclocked to buggery!
