This will be my first build and I'm hoping to lower the cost without lowering my performance too much.

Case: Azza Solano 1000

MOBO: MSI P55-GD65

Hard Drive:

CPU: Intel Core i5-750

PSU:

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws (4GB)

Optical Drive:

GPU: MSI R5770 Hawk

Open to any suggestions on less expensive hardware but I sort of have my heart set on the Graphics Card and the CPU to some extent.

If more GPU power vs CPU power equals better gaming I've got another question. I currently have an Intel Core2 quad q8200, would it be sensible to transfer my MOBO and CPU over to a new case and build from there?

Well dat would save a lot of money but wouldn't be gud for a longer run plus u will have to run ddr2 instead of ddr3 so overall performance wont be any better or balanced.

So in my opinion u r better off with a new build.

At the beginning of 2011 the new sockets that will replace the 1156, 1366 and AM3 will be released and you'll be able to get a platform on the a new socket. DDR3 isn't better than DDR2 so keep what you have for now.

Your CPU isn't very good for overclock so leave it as it is.

With that you can get a HD 6870 if you want the 6850 is very good too.
