So i have started to up grade my current computer and so far its off the chain :

What i have already bought and upgraded :

* Ram :
From : 12gb $300 Corsair Xm3
To : 24gb $320 Patriot 1600Mhz (6 x 4 gb)

All the RAM is for 64 bit After Effects ... 16gb or 18gb for rendering is gunna be amazing

* Heatsink :
From: Aircooler Cooler Master Hyper N-520 (good air cooler up to 3.5ish)
To: Corsair Hydro 50 Semi Water Cooler and was able to safely get 4.0MHz so far

*Case : (keeping current)

Cooler Master HAF 932 with 6 case fans , (3x 230mm Massive fans)

* Motherboard : (Not yet purchased)

From : EVGA X58 SLI LE motherboard
To : EVGA X58 SLI 3 ( exact same board but has usb 3.0 and sata 3 ports )

and when i say same, I literally think the took the LE and and modded them.

Processor : (keeping current)

*i7 930 stock 2.80 Overclocked to 4.0 Currently

Graphics Card :

From : EVGA 460 GTX 786 MB
To : Probably Going to upgrade to the 2gb version of the 460gtx

Hard drives :

From : 3gb/s 1x 1 tb, 1 x 750gb Software raided , then 320gb for OS
To: 3tb External Usb 3.0 , 250 gb sata iii 6gb/s

Power Supply :

Ultra 650w lifetime series PSU (may sound cheesy, But i only but ultra psu's) Never had one go bad,and ive owed about 6 over the years on various upgrades .....

If you have some ideas post them here.....

* Would it be worth it to go SLI ?
* Are there any RAM cooler fans, Universal or Patriot brand (The arch that goes on top and has two fans) ?
* Suggestions for anything i should add and or change ?
* I know 24gb of RAM is alot but Trichannel and 24gb's Cant wait to use AE

1. Read this before buying the H50

2. At minimum I'd look at the 560 Ti's over the 460

3. Would it be worth it to go SLI ?

Yes .... but not with an Ultra PSU ... XFX 650 is only $65 and will handle two 460/560's...though I'd prefer the XFX 750 Black

4. Are there any RAM cooler fans, Universal or Patriot brand (The arch that goes on top and has two fans) ?

Today's RAM, has THG has pointed out in more than one article, no longer needs heat sinks or coolers....in fact they reported that RAM ran cooler w/ heat sinks removed. The last "effective" cooler I saw were the Ascent liquid coolers offered on some of the Mushkin Redline series, but I haven't seen those since 2009. If ya worried about RAM cooling, you can always use an Antec "Spot Cool" or similar device.

5. Suggestions for anything i should add and or change ?

If ya use an air cooler, make sure you use low profile RAM . Tall heat sinks will hit the cooler.

To guide ya choices make sure you are not looking at a test database based upon testing w/ the the LGA 775 CPU's (i.e frostytech) ....their heat signature is way different from 1155/1366 CPUs.

Yes .... but not with an Ultra PSU ... ok i now resent your comment and post a wager .... that my ultra PSU will out perform a psu that cost $200.00 more lol off the 800 watt version i was able to pull 2 x 2gb SLI cards ..... Once again dont knock it until youve tried it ...

Well both that i have used are cheaper then most and out performed 2 800w corsairs, where as i was running 2, 2gb cards sli and the corsairs would run them but the Ultra ran them with out a problem
