Hi, im planning to build a new system using these parts. Can somebody tell me that it will work or if i need to swap some parts to make it work (doubting the sata2 hdd with the sata 6gbs mobo)

list:
CPU:
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 3.2GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Black Edition

MOBO
Asus M4A87TD/USB3 AMD 870 ATX Socket AM3 DDR3-2000

Specs ==> http://techwiki.hardwarecanucks.com/product/2NTEyNzI5Nz...

RAM
Kingston ValueRam 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9

HDD

Will be using my old gfx card, and case will be thermaltake v3 450w psu.

So will this combination work and is it good?
Im just a bit confused on the whole SATAII hdd and the mobo being a sata6, will it work? will it even fit in? or do i need to get a better hdd?

Thanks a lot

1. If your PSU is the TT TR2 line i would look to move out of it
2. SATA 3GB/s devices are backwards compatible with SATA 6GB/s ports

so that means the sata2 hdd will work on the sata3(6gb/s) port on the motherboard?
wouldn't that t make the sata 6b/s backwards compatible with sata2... lol i assume thats what you meant?

Yes a SATA 6gb/s drive could still run on SATA 3GB/s port with penalty (in the case of SSDs) and a SATA 3GB/s drive could run on SATA 6GB/s port as per normal
