Has anyone experienced Windows 7 update troubles?

Hello, I'm just looking into something I think might be the cause of both my hard drives freezing up.

Has anyone been experiencing any problems with updates? If you can, please name the update.

So, a few weeks ago my 2TB HD began locking up after I loaded the desktop. There would be slow down, then permanent freezing, although I should point out that on one occasion I managed to play music, and it continued playing after the freeze.

My second HD, 500GB, has begun locking up when viewing multiple videos, or just a few applications running at the same time, no sudden slow down like the previous HD, just immediate permanent freezing.

My specs are as follows:
2TB Western Digital Caviar Black Harddrive
500GB Samsung Harddrive
Intel DH55HC motherboard
Zotac GTX 570
i3 550 @ 3.2GHz
8GB (2x4GB) Mushkin Silverline
OCZ 700W Power Supply

Please help, I've been experiencing problems for a few weeks now, and nothing seems to help.

When are the drives freezing up?

The first, a 2TB Western Digital Caviar Black, freezes when it loads the desktop. The second, a 500GB Samsung, freezes when watching multiple videos or light multitasking. Both slightly different situations.
