i am frequently getting a "chassis intruded! fatal error, system halted message. i do not know how to solve it. i cannot find anything in bios referring to such. is there something on the motherboard itself?

something is jumping the chassis intrusion jumpers typically found amongst the power/reset/hdd light pins...... or perhaps yours need a jumper that got removed....???
