Hi everyone, first time poster to this awesome board.

Looking to upgrade the graphics card in my system. Budget is $250. Specs:
Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit
Intel Quad Q9400 2.66mhz (Not oc'ed)
4 gig DDR3
Asus P5Q Deluxe
Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 (Not oc'ed)
Antec 500W PSU

Looking to improve performance in Rise of Flight and F1 2010, specifically. Plan to play at 1920x1200.

I understand that the 6xxx series is coming out, but if you were to upgrade today, what would you buy for this system?

IMO, GTX 460 1GB and the OC your C2Q... maybe get a better hsf for it if you still have the stock cooler.

Thanks for the tip. I had been focusing on ATI since that is what I'm used to, but I really like what I've learned about the 460. I'm leaning that way at the moment.

ATI 5850 or GTX 460 1GB. I would probably go for the ATI 5850 at 1200p but you can't go wrong with either one.

Yup, agree, GTX460 or HD5850, your choice, those card should handle most of games at 1920x1200 with decent setting. OC your CPU also will help you a lot... :)

If you're not opposed to rebates, there are $20 rebates for both cards on Newegg if you look around, bringing the Radeon 5850 from $260 to $240 and the GTX 460 1GB from $220 to $200

Not opposed to rebates so I bit on the Gigabyte 460 1gig. I figure $199 net is a darn good price and even when\if prices are reduced after the 6xxx announcement, it still a hell of a deal. Thanks for the help guys. Looking forward to higher FPS!
