Fans/heatsink on, no video or BIOS posted

Hey guys,

I built my first computer last night and upon connecting everything I turned the thing on, and all of my fans clicked on, but there was no signal from the video card so I could not see if my bios posted or not.

I think there may have been a small beep, but I'm afraid my CPU was somehow damaged as it is the most fragile part of the machine. I know this is a very general question but if someone could give me some pointers regarding how to troubleshoot this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

This worked! Strangely enough I forgot to plug in the 4-pin socket for the CPU so that's why nothing posted. Thanks for the link it was very helpful!
