Agree with niklas_13. Sandy Bridge is actually being released in early January, so it's more like 5-6 weeks at this point. If you can, I would highly recommend waiting. If nothing else, it should drive i5 prices down at least a little bit (since SB is the new mainstream line replacing i5s).

@ 3.2 your Quad core is not holding you back atm, if you cant wait pick up the GTX 470 for a quick FPS boost and in 5 to 6 weeks pick up the new SB CPU/MOBO.

Hmm i some how missed something lol what is your CPU ? MOBO ? RAM ? atm.

Benchmark charts ?

I have no clue what a Benchmark chart is LOL But I assume its some rating system - and u are telling me
my junk is old ! :fou:
I have the recipts for my 2007 build (which I am on now) and that card was 379. bucks back then - and now 3 years later
its worth 3.79

This industry moves the fastest of any industry on the planet,if you dont keep up with it
in 6 months your latest build is obsolete.....So Imm gonna pick up that 470 and wait for this
SandyBridge Jan thing - Id like to see what exactly happens to the CPU market place...
Or U never know Newegg can throw up a sale ,last week the sold out i5 760s for 175 bucks
now they are back up to 205ish.........

Can any of U fella tell me what the difference between these 2 470 GTX's are ?
I see 10 bucks, and I see a some Drams thing which I have no idea what that is
and if it even makes a difference

The 2nd one has a slight overclock. Probably not worth $10.

Here's an example of a benchmark chart:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU/88

It looks like I was wrong, and the 8800 is only showing up on some charts here and there:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU/90
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU/102

But as you can clearly see, it's pretty weak, and it's old enough that it probably isn't going to be included for much longer.

i5 seems like a waste.....
i5 and i7's are dropping in price at a rate of about 5-10 bucks a week.....I am watching it pretty close and I see an industry that is constantly slapping its own products in the face with newer ones
I bet in a month or so an i7 will the same price as that i5 760.....

I'll wait LOL
