Hello,

The following is the basic spec for my 3 yr old pc.

"Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6300, 1.86GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 2MB Cache, 3GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB Hard Drive, 512MB nVidia Geforce 7500LE Graphics"

The graphics card just died and I need a new one. Can anyone please tell me if this will be compatible or if I should go for something else?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-HD5450-DDR3-Graphics-C...

I found the original one wasn't giving me great performance so I'd like to up it to 1Gb but please let me know if there is a problem with this too.

Thanks for your help!

A 5450 would be compatible and not require any additional power connectors either. Upping the available Vram to 1gb might not do much considering the state of your computer overall, however if it's a small difference in price, then go for it.

What is your PSU? brand? model?
If you only has 250W-300W then go with HD5670 or GT240.

You can OC your CPU up to 2.7GHz without raising the VCore, believe me, i already tried it and my cpu stable at 2.7GHz without raising Vcore (with aftermarket cooler). Even if you use stock cooler i'm pretty sure that you can OC it at least to 2.3GHz without producing lots of heat... :)

it would be compatible but why have u choosed that ? it wont be great upgrade . recomanded options are these . 5750 , 5770 . if you can spend more money go for 5850 if you cant buy them then buy 4850 or 5550 . but make sure u have enough PSU for NEW VGA CARD . CPU is important too . for example E6300 is not that good for 5850 .

You need to stop recommending GPUs like this, they are looking for a replacement and haven't asked for an upgrade. By your suggestion you will have them spending $1000+ just to fix a bad 7600 when they could spend $50 and get the system back up and running. Recommending a 5850 in their system is just way off in never never land.
