I was given an Intel Celeron 420 with a Compaq motherboard, so I cannot overclock it. I am wondering if it could play 1080p videos, i.e. Blu-ray? I would try it myself, but I need to get Ram, ddr2, and another power supply. If it could handle it I would have no problem buying the Ram ($15 at micro center refurbished though)and I plan on buying a better power supply for my main rig anyways. The computer will only be used for watching High Def videos (if possible) and other basics like iTunes/internet.

Note, I am trying to spend as little as possible (except psu)

The system
CPU-Celeron 420 + stock cooler $0
Mobo-Basic Compaq motherboard $0
GPU-9600gt $10
Ram-Random refurbished ddr2 1gb $15 (if purchased)
Psu-Antec Neo Eco 520w ~$50 when purchased
Case-Old stock HP case $0
HDD-Old 120gb 5400rpm laptop hard drive $10
Edit: LG Blu-ray drive $60
Total Cost: about $145

Thanks

Solution

Stupid me, I forgot to mention the Blu-ray drive (its in my main rig), I'll add that to the list of things that I have, anyways it will be hooked up to my 1080p t.v.
And that is good to know, I'll probably spend about $100-150 at micro center, that Seasonic 660w 80+ gold power supply is looking really nice.
