Motherboard for a AMD phenom ii x4 920?

Forum CPU & Components : CPUs Motherboard for a AMD phenom ii x4 920?

I bought a MSI 770T-C35 MB thinking it would use the AMD phenom ii x4 920. But it wont boot. Looked at the specks closer and it says it supports a AMD phenom, not the phenom ii. So I am Out of luck, right?

You might want to read the CPU support list again. You are incorrect.

There is another issue with your computer. Can you further describe your setup and specific issues?

The board may not have the correct BIOS revision. Was this a new purchase, or did you buy it from a reseller like eBay?

No, I got all the stuff new from NEW EGG. CPU is a AMD Phenom II X4 920, RAM G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2, Video = ASUS EAH5670/DI/1GD5 Radeon HD 5670. New power supply too, its a coolmax v600 watt. Changed out the ram and Vedio card with 3 compatable items, And tried another power supply. I RMA ed the MB, got it back..new one again, but still no boot. I just ordered a new AMD Phenom II X2 545 Callisto 3.0GHz to see if that will get it booting. Any other ideas?

Well to let you all know what is going on.. I got the cheaper CPU(AMD Phenom II X2 545 Callisto 3.0GHz) and it booted right up. I updated the CMOS to I think it was 8.7 version. But it would not boot with the AMD Phenom II X4 920? So I RMA'ed the cpu. I hop this will fix it.. Never got a bad CPU before. And I have built probably 30+ computers.
I do have a question though.. IS there a way to update a BIOS with a computer doing what mine did? I only know how to do it when it boots up.

The only time I have seen a bios update without the computer booting up was a youtube video on the AMD channel. He ripped out the bios chip with a pair of pliers and popped in a new chip that had the latest bios version already on it.

If you haven't sent it in for RMA yet, use the other CPU so you can boot and update the bios and try the phenom x4 after.
