How long to let USB drive dry?

I handled my USB drive with damp hands today, and so I am letting it dry before plugging it into the PC. It didn't get soaking wet--it may have gotten a bit damp on the outside. A couple of questions:

1) How long should I let it air out? It had been drying for about 3 hours now--is this enough?
2) To test if it is working, I am planning to format it, then copy over a file and open it. Does this seem like a good enough test?

Thanks!

Use a hairdryer. Blow it with cold air for a bit them quick bursts with cold to hot cold to hot for a couple of min

It has been sitting behind my PC case, getting warm air blown on it from the case exhaust fan for the past 3 hours. Would you say I am safe to plug it in?

Also, if it formats and I can copy/read files from it, would you say it is OK?
