GPU temps causing freezing?

I have been experiencing intermittent freezing problems in Starcraft 2 and COD4. These freezes will come at various times and last for various amounts of time (usually around 3-5 mins). I checked out temps and my cpu idles at about 40c on all cores with its max reaching 71c. My GPU usually idles at around 70-73c and its gotten up to 87c. Could any of these be causing it?

My specs:

Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz
3 Gb of Ram
Nvidia 9800 GT
XFX mobo 630i

70c + @ idle is too high, clean the HSF and see if it gets better.

At some point, take the side panel off and put the tower on its side. That should improve cooling by a bit, and if it stops freezing up you'll know the cause and what to fix.
