New build business use

Hi every one, I wish to build a top end business desktop and require the following

Quick boot
Quick transfer of large files
Highquality quick graphics (graphs not games)
Quick printing

The intel DQ67EP board seems attractive but has limited scope for additons and only has one system fan. Intel warn that good system cooling is vital with this board.

Any views or comments will be welcomed.

Motherboard manufacturer is not really going to make that much of a difference for what you are looking for, but Intel boards are definitely solid.

The most important thing for you is going to be:

at least 1 SSD, preferably in the 100GB + Range. - This is going to give you an extremely fast boot, as well as fast program loading. 100GB should be more than enough to install windows as well as any programs you need. If you need more space for data storage, I would also put a standard HDD in there to suit your needs.

a SATA 3 (6Gb/s) data port for your SSD.

An Intel i5-2500. The onboard graphics with this chip (Intel 3000) are extremely powerful for an onboard chip, and will run probably anything you are using it for with ease. This will also help to keep the system cool, as there won't be a GPU heating things up and blocking airflow.

6-8GB or RAM. I would suggest 2x 4GB modules at DDR3 1600MHz, as that as the sweet spot for the current processors. You can get a kit for around $50. Keep in mind you will need a 64-bit OS. I would suggest Win 7 X64, although there is a 64bit version of Windows XP as well if you need it. This will allow you to use more than the 4GB of RAM issue with the 32bit OS's

I would go with an Intel, gigabyte or Asus board that has all of those functions.

I don't consider the Intel DQ67EP (ITX) by any stretch 'Top End'; it has VERY limited expansion and more like something used in 'Cash Register' (POS) use.

Here's an example of a solid Business Workstation build (Xeon + ECC (error free), SSD (optional), RAID 1 1TB HDD, the Xeon listed supports a solid iGPU solution which is perfectly fine for anything 2D:

As promised I reply to let you know which way I am going.

I am going both ways! I have adapted an i7 m/c along the lines that itzdanielp suggested and it certainly a good improvemnt.

I have fallen for Jaquith's suggestion and have started saving - it will take a little while.

The i7 is a great processor, but for what you are doing an i5 2500k would do just as well, and you won't notice any difference in performance
