Hello all,

I have a friend who has a machine that we built that he uses for video editing. Specs are as follows:

Antec 300 case
Foxconn 780G Mobo
4 GB DDR2 800
Phenom II X6 1055T
XFX 9800GT

He wants to upgrade his graphics card.

I suggested that he get a workstation card since he does mostly video editing on the computer and no gaming.

The only program he mentioned using is Sony Vegas. (I asked him what other software he uses and will update when he tells me)

I am a bit of an AMD fan and the FirePro cards seem to pack much more performance for the price than do the quadro cards.

the cards I was looking at were the:

Firepro V4800, and V5800

Quadro FX 580 and 1800

The only thing is I don't know if the FirePro card will help at all in Sony Vegas.

Could someone please help me choose which of these cards to recommend to him if at all? Or if you know of another model that would be better I am open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

Robert
