Lag when playing games

I had the EXACT same problem with my 5870. You know what fixed it? A new operating system. I switched from Windows XP Pro SP3 to Windows 7 X64, which is what you have right now.

I'm gonna guess something is running in the background or was installed that's messing things up for you.

Try disabling things from msconfig. If that didn't work, try a new user account. If that didn't work too backup your files and install a fresh Win7.

Oh, and make sure you install ATI's drivers before doing anything, if you haven't already. Windows drivers are meant to just get the thing to work not for gaming.

What's with you and the 8400GS? It does suck because it's a low end card and is pretty useless for anything other than 2D desktop based stuff, it even struggles to play a 1080 .mkv file.

Wrong forum and topic..

Do as they said, reinstall the drivers first. You might want to try the 10.4 or 10.5, i use 10.5 and i have no problems with them. Some manufactures have custom made drivers for ati so the one from amd site do not work or work with problems. I recommend to download the drivers from the manufacturer's site.
If the drivers fail try reinstalling windows and the drivers, all 3 parts. -

You can also try to see if that video card has problems in other systems, the lang in games can also be caused by RAM or CPU or another component.

it worked for me but that does not mean it will work for you.

So..4 of those cards in sli, even if that would be possible, can not beat a 5770..why did you came up with that recommendation?

gyver did you mange to resolve your issue?
