Is it my CPU or GPU?

Hi guys, I need some help. I just built a new computer. I am playing WOW on 1920x1080. I have a Msi Twin Frozr GTX 460 768 mb and a Phenom II x4 955 that I Highered to 3.9 and then lowered to 3.4 because Im getting kicked from WOW. I have MSI afterburner and when I have my fan on really high, its loud, THEN when I start to get kicked, my Fan slows down from 100 to 40. What is going on?

Can you explan what "kicked" means??

Is that getting booted from the server, system crash or something else?

It goes black, then brings me back into the game. It does that quite a bit. I am putting my 460 down alittle since its OCd from MSI right away. I really dont know whats wrong. Im using the Drivers 266.58 forceware

How are your temps??

Have you got the latest patches installed for WoW?

Have you tried running at a lower resolution and see what happens??

It sounds like you've overclocked your graphics card too high, or it's working too hard. When it overheats or encounters errors, the screen goes blank. The fan was running fast because it was in the 3D game, then it slows down when you get kicked out. That's normal.

Reduce your video card back to the default settings that it came with. In other words, stop using Afterburner to mess with settings for a while to see if it starts working normally.

As tecmo says, you may have to reduce the resolution or graphic detail level or something. If you don't want to do that, you may need to return that card for a better one like a 570 or something.

Does it do the blank-screen thing in any other game?

i havent tried any other game. I lowered my graphics alot but didnt change the resolution. I lowered the settings in afterburner to even lower than what it came with. Its not overheating, it doesnt go over 45

Ok, just got an ERROR. It says World of Warcraft couldnt use 3d acceleration and make sure ive got Directx9.c or something like that. I have Dx 11. I only have Wow and the burning crusade, not WOTLK or cata.

Try other games to see if it a problem with the graphics card or something else.

Well, Just cause 2 ran PERFECTLY with settings on HIGH. SO now its just wow? I downloaded a bunch of addons...is that it?

The add-ons are a possibility.

You could also try a previous version of the Nvidia drivers. Maybe it doesn't like the 266.58 version for whatever reason.

I have windows 7, Phenom II x4 955 BE, Twin Frozr 460 768 mb. Its ONLY WOW thats messing up. Other games are fine

I would try uninstalling and reinstalling WoW, without the addon's and see what happens.

It's possible that one of the WoW files has become corrupt....so yes, start with uninstalling and reinstalling WoW.

I did. Same issue still and its only wow

Try downloading the DX11 webinstaller.

If that doesn't work download Coretemp and run Prime95, make sure that overclock is stable. Then run MSI Kombustor in DX11 with AA on max.

I Underclocked my CPU back down to 3.3 or so . I ran Prime 95 for 20 mins. I also dont see temps on my CPU reach any Higher than 55 and my Gpu never has gotten higher than 50 so far. I ran Kombuster, but I will give it another go. I just received an Email from blizzard wanting my DXDIAG and MSINFO so I sent it to them.
