Your motherboard can handle any current card. Overclocking your CPU is a good idea.

wow... a very long detail... :D

You has Quad core, 9600GT and 1280 x 768 resolution.
Well, just like jyjjy said above... ^+1

Any card should work fine on your motherboard, you can add HD4850 or GTS250 to maxed out almost every games at your resolution, make sure you have enough power on PSU... :)

every VGA card is compatible because your mobo's slot is 2.0 version , & can accept even highest VGA CARDS . for example 5850 or higher :D  . & Make sure u have enough power Supply for new VGA . for that resulation 5770 would be greatest option it even may be overkilling . HEAR my advice & never upgrade ur Monitor ( or upgrade it to 17 or 19Inch not higher ) because even medium VGA card will work very great . Options of games will limit you for low REZ then you can maxout the game & play it with highest speed & quality :sol:

That is terrible advice. It's like telling someone to never consider buying a car because you are happy with a bicycle that cost $50.

^+1 to jyjjy

8vidia, you need to check your recommendation. Based on that you should never upgrade your system at all because it works now and therefore should always work just as well no matter what you install on it.

no . we can get a system that is not most expensive & greatest & see it work for long time for us well . its possible isnt it ? &jyjjy , dont you think upgrading monitor will force user too get higher VGA card too for better performance ? if he is gamekiller . he can get perfect quality & speed by keeping his monitor . but if he get 24 INCH monitor so he will have to spend lot more for system that can handle that monitor REZ.

Of course a higher resolution requires a better video card. Not gaming at all also requires no video card! Let's recommend that instead.
The benefit of a 24" high res monitor over a small, low res monitor is simply huge. I'm assuming you are on a small one because if you were using a decent monitor you would cringe at the thought of going back to a tiny screen. Next time you play a game put the resolution down to 800x600 and play for a little bit. This should show you clearly how important resolution is in gaming. It isn't quite an adequate comparison to what you are recommending though because that is just resolution. The proper comparison would be if we were to shrink your screen size by 50%+ as well. You may need a $200 video card instead of a $100 one for 1080p but it is definitely worth the cost unless you are very poor.

I am using SAMSUNG BW 1932 , with 1440 REZ . & i am so satisfy & i can get cards like 5770 & maxout the games with no lag . but if i had 24 inch monitor then 5770 couldnt be good option . why do you need that big monitor when smaller Monitor can provide u . biger monitor show bad details of game too ! but smaller hide bad details & show the games like a Movie ( its what i saw with my own eyes ) . if u have 5970 then u can get 24 inch with no problem . good LUCK

Your logic is like saying why bother with a beautiful girlfriend? Beautiful ones sometimes have flaws if you look closely while an ugly girlfriend is easier to get and if you stand far away and squint your eyes they look the same.

But there is an option : you can get Girl with Both Beauty & good behavior . i agree with that one that u say :if girl is nice so shes not good & if she s good shes not nice . but there are a girls that are Good & Nice . Little monitor wont bother you know why because u only concentrate on game & its quality . but away 19 icnh is big enough to see all details , isnt it . but 24Inch will blow ur eyes , IMO 17-19 inch is the normalesat REZ & monitors for gaming . dont you think so ?

No, I use a 22" Samsung P2250 @1080 so I think you're talking cobblers.

Ok thats how you want , but i just saying that 19 makes you to spend not that high for Vga & get very good quality & performance . Mousemonkey what kind of VGA do you use for ur 22 inch ? dont you think ( for example ) 5770 wont bring same results for u & me ? it will work faster on me . i recomand that if that person cant spend high prices for hardwares . i am so happy with my 19 inch any way . it gives me perfect quality .

I use a 9500T in one rig and a pair of 8800GT's in the other with a DVI KVM to switch between the two and just because you are happy with a 19" monitor does not mean that someone else would be satisfied with it just as some people would not be happy with a 22" monitor and would prefer a 30" instead.

Ok question (B) are u satisfy with that card & that monitor . does it help u play games maxed out with high speed ? any way ruel says higher monitor needs highr vga card . let me bring u other example . u will get 5770 or 5830 ? ( 5830 is too much bigger & consumes lot more than 5770 ) & if u hear people they will say 5770 . IF u already have 5970 then 22 inch is not bad option . but if u have low vga card so low monitor is better .

Yes I am satisfied with my cards and monitor as they do everything I require them to do. This also has nothing to do with the OP's question so please get back on topic.

I would prefer the GTS450 myself as it seems to handle AA and AF better than the HD5770 and I prefer Nvidia drivers but it's your money and your call.

The Monkey prefers anything Nvidia. The HD5770 is a faster card overall with AA/AF or without although the GTS 450s with a large factory overclock get very close in performance.
If you are on a 23" monitor though your native resolution is probably 1920x1080 and you should get a card adequate for such if you are going to upgrade. The HD5770 would be passable at that resolution but there are better choices if you are will to spend more so tell us your budget.
Another factor is your power supply. No matter what card you get you need to make sure your PSU can handle it so tell us the brand/model.

at becnhmarks 5770 performs better, but away 23inch is Big monitor & realy needs a great VGA card if you care about speed & quality of games .
atleast 5850 or GTX 460 . Why have u got that big :o  ? u can get 5770 or GTS 450 but dont Expect much from those cards . because there will be a high rez option in games & then if you want to set to highest posible option & maxout the game then those cards woptn help you . GOOD LUCK :hello:

23" is not that big and size has nothing to do with resolution and it's resolution that matters not size of screen.

OH but away , you have too change ur PSU too . 400 is low for even 5770 . go for atleast 500 watt PSU .

My budget is roughly $150~ and about the PSU, will it be too much of a hassle to change it to higher Watts? xD

No, it's four screws and a couple of plugs none of which can be mixed up as to where they fit on the motherboard or any devices.

ur mobo is new enough . just change the PSU if u realy wanna see what u expect from new Video card . after this moment dont copy paste DXDIAG info . because if u have 4GB ram then dxdiag will only show u 3.5 of it if u using 32bit windows .

Just memorize this 5 parts with little details . VGA , CPU , MOBO , RAM , PSU
anythin but VGA should be find to VGA be able to work fine . ur satus is :

Mobo: 100% FINE
RAM: 100% FINE
PSU: ( u didnt mentioned , but u need atleast 500 watt )
CPU: 100% FINE

u only need to buy new PSU for ur new sweet GTX 460 . oh butaway ur REZ is low as i saw , its good u know why because lower REZ makes VGA to run much better . i am using 1440 REZ & people say GTX 460 or 5850 is overkill for me look how overkill it is for u , thats just great go for PSU & new VGA . GOOD LUCK
