Hello,
why is the i7 9xx series more expensive than i7 2xxxK series, it seems that they are clearly not as good? Is it anything to do with the intel P55 chipset problem?

Why are 17 2xxxk processors cheaper than similar performing i7 9xx ones? Is it to do with the Intel p55 chipset problem?

You are looking at two different platforms... LGA 1155 vs LGA 1366.

The i7 2xxxK are better than the i7 9xx's but there are still some applications that benefit from the i7 9xx setup. The i7 9xx's platform (x58) is a proven platform, where the P67 is new and had already had an issue. I would look for these prices to drop over time when the LGA 2011 is released later this year.
