^ You should know that Intel is going to launch their newer CPUs by Jan 5th, so it might be a good idea to wait till then...
Also both ATI and Nvidia will be launching their newer cards by this month, so would give you a lot of options...

looked into the new cpu and correct me if I'm wrong but the first to come out are not replacements for the i7 9xx chips those are to come out some time next fall. this is the tops for 1366 x58 motherboards gonna wait for them to work out the kinks on new boards first. forgot about the new cards thanks for the head up as I said looking for ideas trying to keep my mind open cuz things do change so fast

Yes you are right that the newer ones are not the replacement for the LGA 1366, but based on the performance I have seen on the net about the new CPUs, they seem to outperform the current-gen i7s too...
And the major advantage that the 9xx have is the Tri-Channel RAM and it has little effect on gaming performance...
But its your call though...Anyways by the time you buy the PC, they would have been launched and you will be able to see the performance...

I can't help but think you're spending an awful lot of money for very marginal improvements.
With a resolution of 1920x1080 (screen size does not matter), a single GTX580 should be sufficient. Start with one. If you need PhysX and don't want it slowing your primary GPU, add a cheap GTX260 to go with it.
An i7-930 can be overclocked to 950 levels, so there's more money saved.
Start with one 3x2GB RAM kit, until/unless you know you'll need more; you can always add it later.
Same for the sound card. It is easy enough to add one, and mobo sound is a lot better than it used to be, particularly on a premium mobo.
Does Win7 Ultimate offer anything you need that justifies its price over Home?

But then use some of the money saved for a 120GB Sandforce SSD. You will definitely see a difference.

well I have always been someone that loves overkill but I have been going back and fourth with the sli. As far as the i7 950 its the low end cpu that newegg is offering right now and I am a huge newegg fan would like my entire build on one list from one place makes things easier on my end. Ram is cheap so a little extra never hurt their is a few mmo's coming out next year that id really like to play and not worry about ram issues (DCUO, SWTOR, and FIREFALL) I know its hard to use 6GB in games right now but as I said Ram is cheap. SSD been pondering that for a bit now do you gain anything with having them besides load times and boot times do they give better gaming performance like more fps????

Thank you for the feed back please not trying to be hard headed about anything just want some solid bang when I order in a few months please keep the ideas rolling want my head well wrapped around this stuff when I do buy

A SSD won't improve FPS, but will improve load times significantly. Programs will open almost instantly.
