Compare PCIe X1 and PCIe X4

Can I use a SCSI Ultra320 PCIe X1 on a riser card with with bus width X4?

Yes, if the card is an x1 and the bus slot is an x4, it will fit, and work just fine. The slot will just utilize x1 width to match the installed x1 card.
