Do all network pcs have to use same dns

Hello,
bt are telling me that my connectivity problems are caused because my vista computer is set to use 8.8.8.8 as dns whereas my xp pc take dns from the router - they say all dns must be bt - does this make sense?

  1. Seems likely that it will work better if you let things run on automatic.

    To change TCP/IP Properties.

Start, Connect To, Connection, Properties, Scroll Down TCP/IP and highlight, click Properties and check that Obtain DNS and IP address automatically are enabled.
  2. No, there's nothing wrong with using the Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4).
  3. Yup, I switched to the Google DNS servers as they worked better in some cases than Comcast's... What connectivity problem are they blaming on DNS?
