Approximate Purchase Date: As soon as I can confirm a build

Budget Range: $550-750

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Internet, photo editing, watching videos

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com

Country of Origin: U.S.

Parts Preferences: by brand or type: Open to suggestions

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: No

Monitor Resolution: My old flat panel monitor is 1280x1024, but I plan to purchase a new wide screen monitor fairly soon.

Additional Comments: I'm replacing a very old Dell desktop, and would like a build that is powerful enough to serve my needs for some time. But I also think that I would be able to upgrade the computer if I built it myself. I initially was leaning towards an Intel build, but after reading through threads here for a few weeks, have decided that AMD is probably the way to go.

I've listed some components I came up with by reading recommendations here, and reviews on Newegg. I'd appreciate knowing whether these components are compatible, and if there are better suggestions as far as reliability and fit. Any advice is really appreciated.

The ASRock board has onboard graphics chip, but a someone who reviewed the motherboard on Newegg said the video crashed while watching Youtube videos for an extended time period. I don't know how accurate this is, but I thought this inexpensive video card might be a better solution for me. It also had great reviews on Newegg. I'd appreciate advice on this idea.

I'd also like to know if the cpu cooler included with the Athlons is sufficient, or would it be a good idea to use:

batuchka, duk3, thanks for your advice......I appreciate your time.

I still wouldn't mind knowing if the components in the build I listed would work okay together.
