ok so I have a HP Pavilion p6310f Desktop PC -
and I want to install a Radeon 5770, and was wondering if I need to upgrade the PSU and if so, which one would be a good choice and fit

Yes you would need a new PSU Corsair 450 or 550 would be good choice or a similar size Antec. Those should fit fine in your case.
