Mouse and keyboard wont work at all how do i access my computer to fix this

Does your board have PS/2 ports on it? If so, hunt down an old keyboard and give it a shot. The port you are looking for: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4a/PS2_...
Also, do the ports on the front of the case work, since they aren't part of the board itself?

thanks for the reply and no ps2 unfortunately or i would have tried that and the front ports don't work. also the last time this happened the mouse worked just not the keyboard than it turned into both this time. the last time to fix it i had to re download the keyboard software so if i could get into the control panel i could try that again but i don't know how to get anywhere without a mouse or keyboard.

If it is just a standard keyboard it shouldn't require drivers. I would assume that since there is no PS/2 that there is no serial. What board is it?

It's just a simple Dell keyboard that came with the computer.

Well I meant to say motherboard. You can find the model on Dell's website and try to find a solution through the manufacturer. Does this computer still have a warranty?

You've tried the two front USB 2.0 connectors and all five rear USB 2.0 connectors?

What do the Diagnostic Lights on the front panel indicate? If 2, 3 and 4 display solid green it indicates a possible USB failure has occurred.

An alternative might be a USB add-in card.

we went to best buy and got a USB card and tried that and it still doesn't work

Maybe putting your HD in one of your dude's computers so you can download all the drivers you need ?
