2 GTX470s vs 3 GTX470's

Ive been looking everywhere for the answer to ths and cannot find a single thread, review or benchmark. Google as stumped me.
Im looking at the gains 3 GTX 470's provide over 2 of them. (Which is what i currently have) - Power Supply is covered so dont worry about that (Antec or Coolermaster 1000W PSU)
If its like 5 FPS then its not worth the extra money, but if it helps quite alot in the FPS range (20-30+) then i may procure the investment.
