I don't know much about video cards. The game my son wants to play says it needs "Video card with 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets is required: ATI x1300 or greater | NVIDIA 6600 or greater | DirectX 9.0c compatible card with Shader Model 3.0 support". The card I have is: "SPARKLE SFPC84GS256U2LP GeForce 8400 GS 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI HDCP". Does my card meet the requirements? The computer only has PCI slots so it limits me to what I can upgrade to! :(

Thanks in advance!

  1. It's NBA 2k11. Yes, I know I really need a PCI Express slot but I don't really want to buy a new computer. :) I realize it will probably run a little slow on this computer but that's OK. How do I know how my card compares to the requirements?
  2. Doing a quick google of that card number returns results showing it as a PCIe card.
  3. Sorry, I didn't make my question clear. My computer does NOT have a PCI Express slot. This is the card that is already installed in my computer: Does this card meet the system requirements listed in my orginal post?
  4. That card is a PCIe card, the two slots in the connection interface are what tells me that because a PCI card only has one slot. Download and run GPUz that will tell which version you have.
  5. I've just had a quick check of some of the cards I have lying around and the PCI does have two slots in it and the PCIe also has two slots but has a locking tab at the rear of the card, sorry about that. Still, run GPUz just to make sure that we get the right interface sorted.

Hey i just re-read his post it seems that he already has that card installed and wants to know wheather his son can play that game with it.

Yes but having had both of those cards I have to say that the 6600GT was a better gaming card than the 8400GS.
