Hello,

I just bought a CF card reader that is USB 2.0 but I need to get a longer calbe than the short two footer that was included.

My question is do I really need to buy special USB 2.0 cables to operate at full USB 2.0 transfer speeds ?

The short answer is: yes.

If you want the full speed advantage that usb 2.0 offers you must buy the special cables. They permit better transmition with less cross-talk which permits the higher speed of 2.0.
