Dual core vs core 2 duo

Hello, I am a software and web developer. I develop in visual studio 2010, user photoshop, dreamweaver, IIS 7, sql server 2008, Mysql, Oracle and xampp for we developement. Which will be the best machine for me.

For something like that, you would probably want a quad-core cpu, like a Phenom II x4 or and Core i5 750.

The Core 2 Duo is an older series. You would be far better off with a i5 750 or X4 655.

Defanitly go with the newer CPU's. You have nothing to gain w/ the old Core 2 duos.

My recomendation: Athlon x3 450 @ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Studies show that only about 3 cores are being used most of the time, and for that speed you cant beat the price.

Dont go for the phenom CPU's, there's not a big enough performance jump for the money.
