I am building a gaming rig (first build) and so far I have:

Cooler Master HAF X Case
Corsair 750 Watt PSU
Intel i7-970 CPU

My biggest concern is what mobo to use for the CPU. Im tossed between Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte. I wont do much OC.

...also, what RAM sticks should I use with that mobo?

Thanks to all

I got the CPU ridiculously cheap and I liked the 6-cores. Im not planning on a very high end vid card...possibly xfx 5770

aaah ok that explains it but for the video card get at least a 6850. For a gaming pc the graphics card is the core. It would struggle in many games if you got a 5770.

Can you also give a budget?

Sure, i would like to spend between $1100-$1600. Right now i put in about $600 and i have the PSU, CPU, HD, DVD-CD Burner, and the Case.

...I would like to play Crysis, and Crysis 2 (when it hits the shelves), Diablo 3 when it releases, Black Ops, MW2, Civilization 5.

Im also looking to create amateur film, not really for profit, just for hobby sake.

My biggest concern is that there are so many good mobos between Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI and I cant decide between the three.

...also, would the 5770 be dropping frames like none other when playing those games i listed?

first the mobo: Are you an overclocking enthousiast or not?

if so get: ga-x58a-ud7, msi big bang X, asus rampage III Formula/extreme

otherwise get: ga-x58a-ud3r, p6x58d-e, asus x58 sabertooth

Which you get doesn't really matter so much just compare the specs yourself, but I assure you all those mbos are worth their money and very good.

lets say that costs 200-300

then as for ram just get a brand name 1600mhz 6gb kit: 110-140

Then the Graphics card: If you're into overclocking: msi hawk, 470 gtx SOC otherwise just a standard 460gtx, or 6850/6870. Or 2 of them if you can afford them(although 1 one will play all the titles you listed just fine)
