Looking for a video card and is this cpu still - i7 920

Hello I was hoping someone could help me find a new video card to go along with my i7 920 cpu. I really don't want to go over $250 on a video card, if at all possible.

I also was wondering if the i7 - 920 would be consider out of date?

These are the things I have now:

cpu - http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=37147

video card - http://www.diamondmm.com/4670PE31GHP.php

mother board - http://us.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=170&prod_no=1703

If you need to know more, just ask.

I'm looking to games like star wars the old republic, battlefield 3, diablo 3. So I want to be able to do high end graphics on my computer and to run smooth as day.

Thank you in advance !

More about looking video card
  1. OK best bang for buck for you is going to be a GTX 560 Ti, or the Radeon 6950. Seeing as you have the X58 platform you can either SLI or Crossfire two of these cards for maximum performance (either 2xGTX560Ti or 2xRadeon6950). The dual-card performance of these cards is VERY GOOD, you will see 90-100% increases right across the board.

You dont need to upgrade your i7-920 yet. Wait till atleast the next generation of CPUs. My advice :)
  2. The GTX 460 HAWK TALON ATTACK is your card buddy, im going for it, it cost $199 with rebate in Newegg

How much are you paying for the I7 920 ? you should look at the i7 950 at microcenters, it cost $200 and it's quite better than the i7 920.

what is your monitors native resolution?

Right now I'm on a 19" 4:3 monitor that is 1280 x 1024. I'm going to get a new screen here in the near future that is a wide screen. I'm thinking about a 23" wide.
  4. Dual 6850/6870 is another great crossfire setup for the i7 920 at 1920x1200 or lower res.
  5. OK, well the links for the card doesn't work on my computer, but I can see that it is a Radeon 6950. A Radeon 6950 will definately be compatible with your X58 motherboard. It will also be hella-fast!
