Hello,

I have been looking through some of the recommendations $1000 gamining rig and other forum posts to try to put together a new build. I would mainly use this pc for gaming (SC2, WoW Cat) but potential video edit (HD video) but current system was brutal for that.

Approximate Purchase Date: This week

Budget Range: About $1000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, productivity (excel, etc) video edit

Parts Not Required: I don't need keyboard, mouse and have two ViewSonic VX2235wm (one is VX2235wm-7) that are fine although I can never get color to be an exact match.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: NewEgg is my preference... would like to get everything at one spot even if I spend a little extra for a component.

Country of Origin: USA

Parts Preferences: I have always been a Intel/NVidia fan...

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: SLI unless there is a reason.

Monitor Resolution: 1680x 1050 is current but wouldn't mind going up a bit

Additional Comments: If a part is more money but makes a difference... I am fine with that.. the $1000 is a guide... not a hard stop.

Here is what I have put together based on the info seen/read... I am unsure on the video card and have two listed. Open to any feedback and suggestions...

I have also be considering doing parts upgrades... I could just keep my old system as another PC if I do a new build... or just update parts..

Here is what is in current system... thoughts on upgrade route versus new build... If I am only reusing case, pws, HDD's I would rather to a new build I think.

GPU - Nvidia 8800 GTS 640mb x 2
CPU - Intel Core2 6420 @ 2.13ghz
HDD - Seagate - ST310005 1TB, 7200 rmp, SATA-300 (OS Installed)
HDD - Maxtor 6 V300F0 300gb, 7200 rpm, SATA-300 (Legacy HD
MOBO- nForce 680i SLI
PSup- Antec NeoHE 550wat
RAM - Corsair DDR2 - 800mhz 1GB (cm2x1024 6400) x4
Case Antec - Not sure model number but looks just like Antec P183 on inside maybe older model.

You can't combine gtx 295 and gtx 470. SLI requires identical cards. Also, you can' run 3 gpu's on a 650W PSU.

My suggestions would for p55 with a xeon x3440.

That system will game fine and has CUDA and 8 cores through hyperthreading and 8 gigs of RAM for video editing.
