AMD Phenom 2 x4 vs Intel core i5

AMD Phenom 2 x4 (955 or 965) or the Intel core i5 for a new cpu? Is the i5 better performance for the extra money?

The i5 is definitely better performance (especially the new 2500k), but it is more expensive as well.

which i5? there are many varieties. If your gaming the i5 generally wipes the floor with any amd chip, particularly the quad core i5's.
