I have had this computer for 3 years now and a faint crackling noise started to come through the speakers yesterday I can still hear everything though. I checked the drivers first. Then found out the same noise was coming from the power supply. The noise still persists even if the computer was turned completely off as long as its plugged in. I tried switching outlets and moving around cords inside and outside of the computer but nothing has worked.I have also recently blown the dust out but I'm going to do it again.
Should I just get a new power supply? I just have never come across this problem while fixing another computer before.

I custom built the computer.
asus p5k motherboard
quad core 2.66g
4 gigs of ram
600 NZXT watt power supply
ati 4850 graphics card
tb hard drive
vista home premium

Yes I think it would be a good idea to change the PSU as you said! If you are hearing noises inside the PSU, this isn't a good thing. And that also interferes with other components!
