You need RAMBUS indeed (RDRAM).

Two Direct-RDRAM banks with two RIMMs per bank (four RIMM sockets)
Support for up to 2 GB of system memory using PC600 or PC800 RDRAM

It seems there are two D850, maybe this helps

They are two different types. The 'X' one was made prior to the new D850EMV2 Intel mother board and it only support for the old D850MV motherboard. Its run at 80ns. While the 'A' one had builded in 5-2-2002 and was made and passed the mobo D850EMV2 motherboard test.
