I just ordered a Zotac Geforce GTX460 AMP!(810MHz Core). What would be the maximum required CPU for it according to you. I am torn between i5 760 and i7 870. I would be running either on 3.8 to 4 GHz. I just dont want to spend the extra money on the 870 if It is not going to convert to performance in games. After all the research I have done, I think the PC would be GPU limited at anything above i5 760 4GHz.

Rest of the specs:
Cooler Master RC310(+3 120 mm Fans)
Corsair VX550
i5 760/i7 870 @4GHz
Gigabyte P55 UD2
4GB DDR3 RAM

Usage: Gaming only....

I'd run one on my E8400, why don't you send it to me when you get it and I can test it out for you.

Get the i5 and you do not need to go to 4Ghz. Did you read this http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/game-performance-bo... ? I say a quad at 3.4 will suffice your needs. Those 400Mhz plus then the recommended in that article should help you with other tasks also.

With the money you save by buying the i5 you should invest in a better video card. Something like the gtx470.

The limit in your PC is the GPU. Depending on what resolution you want to play your games and at what settings you might want to re orientate to a more powerful gpu as the one i mentioned earlier.

Yeah the i5 is a better deal and more than enough for that card when OCed.
