Oks I could use a few pointers from the community.

Current system specs

C2D E8400 @ 3.0Ghz
Asus 750i MB
4GB DDR2 800 memory
XFX AMD HD5770 1Gb Gfx

Ok Im debating staying with the 750i MB and getting a couple of Nvidia cards to do SLI with or to get another MB that I can Crossfire with (GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-USB3P) is what im thinking about, plus with that board I can move up to DDR3 memory.

Or should I just go ahead and update to a newer CPU/Motherboard combo? Id really like to pair my 5770 with another instead of having to get 2 Nvidia cards. Any suggestions are welcome. Ive been building systems since 96 so dont hold back.

I would really like to get away from DDR2 memory and get DDR3 and prob go from 4gb to 8gb

Well,if you can get a new CPU/Motherboard (like Core i5/i7 CPUs),then go for it;otherwise, 2 5770s will give you roughly performance of 1 5870 which is great.

Best elaborate purpose of upgrades - lots of games do fine on a high end X2 like yours and you can clock away fro more CPU intensive games for better playing experience ^^
