Well, i think you will better with newer card like HD5770 or GTX460, that's should enough to handle most of games on 20" monitor with decent setting...
HD4890 is a power hog card and produce lots of heat.
So, your options are:
1. Sell both of cards and get a new card like HD5770 or GTX460.
2. Sell HD4890 and use HD4850, it's still good enough to handle games on 20" monitor.
What do you mean by you messed up OC CPU? It's quite easy, even without raising the VCore...
thinking of getting ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB DDR5 Graphics card, and just calling it "cap" as in no more upgrades, and selling my old mobo, sata dvd-rom, and 2 sata 80 GB hard drives and 4890 and 4850 to cover the cost.
i am not sure, but when ever i would try to over clock it refuses to boot, maybe someone knows the exact numbers to use to get to 3.55 GHz on E8500, i think that is possible
3.55GHz on E8500 is great, but i guess 3.0GHz is enough.
Also, HD5870 is an overkill for 20" monitor. But, it's okay if you want to BUILD your next gaming PC later, you can move the brand new HD5870 to your the next PC.
why not ATI Radeon HD 5870, it uses less power and makes less heat and i would be able to play all games on ultra if it is possible
I look at everything from a price perspective
5870 around $350
460 around $175
with the 5870 on a 20" monitor (1920x1080 res) or higher yes, but if your monitor doesn't have resolution that high I personally wouldn't want to spend $150+ more on the higher end video card without being able to use the benefits.
